Fiona has been a member of HYB since the studio first opened its doors in 2019. The teachers within the studio supported and developed her practice, sparking her interest in undertaking teacher training. More recently, she was welcomed into the HYB teaching community in September 2024.
Fiona completed her 300-hour Yoga Factory Hot Yoga Training in Cabarete, Dominican Republic, in July 2023, specialising in the 26&2 style based on the Bikram series.
Continuing her journey in yoga, Fiona is currently undertaking the Function & Flow 200-hour Yoga Teacher Training Diploma Course at Studio52 in Belfast, which focuses on Vinyasa sequencing for beginners. She is due to complete this course in March 2025.
Her classes aim to provide a traditional experience of the 26&2 sequence, offering an open-eyed moving meditation in a heated environment. This yoga practice takes a holistic approach to meditation, not only cultivating mindfulness and connection with the breath but also strengthening the body.
Regular practice helps build both strength and resilience. Some poses require balancing the body, which improves coordination and stability over time.
As both a teacher and a dedicated practitioner, Fiona believes yoga is a great way to integrate mindfulness into daily life. It can be practised alongside other physical activities, making it highly adaptable for people with different lifestyles.
